I have worked with the deaf community for 25 years and have an international profile in mental health and deafness. I have lectured locally, nationally and internationally in the area of mental health and disorders relating to deaf children and adults and have lead Masterclasses in this area. I am an Expert (Health) for the World Federation of the Deaf. I have considerable experience of working as an independent and single joint expert in Court proceedings, advising the Court on a range of matters including: psychological assessment, family assessment, capacity to parent, parental and inter-sibling attachment, placement and access and advice on psychological needs and treatment options.

I lecture on the Advanced Certificate in Mental Health and Deafness, Institute of Applied Studies at the University of Birmingham, U.K. I am a Visiting Fellow in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne, Australia within my specialism as an international expert in deafness. I hold a number of higher degrees associated with deafness and I am fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) and Australian Sign Language (Auslan).
